Punch Monkey Poster is inspired by Punch, a young Japanese macaque (snow monkey) at Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan who became an internet sensation for one heartbreaking detail: when he felt overwhelmed, he would return to an orangutan soft toy for comfort (widely shared online as the IKEA orangutan plush).
This artwork centers that bond. Punch huddles close with the orangutan plush on a snow-dusted shoreline, perched on a rough rock ledge. Behind them, layered ice, still water, and distant winter trees create a quiet sense of depth and calm.
Designed with a Japanese woodblock print influence, Punch Monkey Poster nods to ukiyo-e composition through a vertical character panel and subtle stamp-like marks. Muted brown and blue tones keep the scene soft, restrained, and readable from any viewing distance, a gentle tribute to tenderness, resilience, and the comfort we reach for when we need it most.
Hang Punch Monkey Poster in a living room, bedroom, hallway, home office, studio, or reading corner, anywhere you want a calm, story-led piece that still feels graphic and timeless. It pairs beautifully with other animal wall art and Japanese-inspired prints for a cohesive gallery wall.
