Green Bedroom Ideas
Green is one of the easiest bedroom colours to live with because it feels natural and restful in almost any shade. Pair green walls with warm cream bedding, wood and one soft contrast, such as dusty pink, terracotta or brass, and choose art that repeats a little of the green alongside that contrast.
Below: how to pick your green, colours that go with it (including pink and green), bedding ideas, and prints for green bedroom walls.

The colour palette
Which green suits your bedroom?
- Sage and grey-green are soft and quiet, good for small rooms and anyone who wants calm above all.
- Fern and leaf green are livelier and work well in bright, south-facing rooms.
- Olive and khaki are warm and earthy, and sit well with wood and leather.
- Forest and bottle green are deep and cocooning. They suit larger rooms or one painted wall behind the bed.
Check the undertone before you commit. Warm greens lean yellow and look best with oak, brass and terracotta. Cool greens lean blue or grey and pair with white, black metal and stone. Paint a large sample on two walls and look at it in the morning and in lamplight.
Pink and green, and other good pairings
Pink and green is a classic for a reason: they sit opposite each other on the colour wheel, so each makes the other look richer. Keep both muted, a dusty pink with a soft green, and the effect is calm rather than sweet.
Other complementary pairings that work in a green bedroom:
- Terracotta and rust for warmth.
- Mustard and antique brass for a vintage feel.
- Walnut and caramel leather for a grown-up, earthy room.
- Navy with deep green for a moody, tailored look.
Use the 60-30-10 rule as a guide: 60% green, 30% cream or wood, 10% accent. Our decorating rules page explains how.
Bedding and furniture
Warm white, oatmeal and natural linen bedding let a green wall breathe. If you want more colour, add a throw in dusty pink, rust or a deeper green than the wall. Avoid bedding in exactly the wall colour, which can make the room feel flat.
Wood flatters every green. Pale oak keeps a light green bedroom airy; walnut and dark-stained furniture suit forest and olive walls. Cane, rattan and plants carry the natural theme without adding more paint.
Green wall art for the bedroom
Look for prints that contain some of your wall green plus one warm tone. Botanicals, birds, landscapes and soft abstracts all suit a green bedroom. On a pale green wall, a print with a deeper green gives contrast; on a dark green wall, art with cream or a light background stands out best.
Above the bed, choose one A1 above a double, or a pair of A2 prints above a king size, and hang the bottom of the frame 15 to 25 cm above the headboard. Browse the green wall art collection or, for softer tones, our sage green prints.
