Bedroom Gallery Wall Ideas
A bedroom gallery wall should feel calm first and interesting second. Keep to one soft palette, build around a single larger anchor print, and leave even gaps of about 5 cm so the wall reads as one quiet picture rather than a collection of separate ones.

The set: Anchor and four: one A2 with a block of four A4

Why this set works in a bedroom
All five prints come from one series of Japanese ink paintings, so they share the same soft brushwork, the same warm paper tone and the same way of fading into mist. The A2 anchor shows a lone boat on a still lake. The four A4 prints beside it stay on the water: a winding river in pale blush, lotus leaves and their reflections, koi swimming between lily pads, and a dark river cutting through the hills.
The two lighter prints sit in the top row and the two darker ones below, so the block of four feels grounded and the eye settles on the big, pale anchor first. It is a calm palette that suits a room for sleeping, and it works with white, oatmeal or grey bedding. Browse the rest of the Japanese ink art series for more prints in the same style.
How to hang it
- Choose the wall. This layout suits the wall above a chest of drawers, the wall beside the bed, or above a double bed. Keep it about two thirds the width of the furniture beneath it.
- Hang the A2 first. Put it on the side nearest the window or the door, so the larger print greets you as you come in. Above furniture, leave 15 to 25 cm between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame.
- Add the block of four. Hang two A4 prints in a row, then two below, keeping the same gap, about 5 cm, between every frame. Two stacked A4 prints come out almost exactly as tall as the A2, so the top and bottom edges line up.
- Check the height. The centre of the whole group should sit around 145 to 150 cm from the floor. Above a bed or a low chest it can come down a little.
Paper templates cut to each size and taped to the wall make it easy to test the layout before you drill.
Bedroom gallery wall mistakes to avoid
- Too many colours. Bright, busy prints keep the eye moving, which is the opposite of what a bedroom needs. Stay within one family of tones.
- No anchor. A group of same-sized small prints can look scattered. One larger print gives the wall a starting point.
- Hanging too high. Art that floats near the ceiling feels disconnected from the bed and furniture.
- Heavy frames over the headboard. If the set goes above the bed, use secure fixings and light frames, and keep glass out of reach where you can.
