Nursery Gallery Wall Ideas
The best nursery gallery wall is soft in colour, simple in layout and hung well away from the cot. A neat grid of four matching prints above a chest of drawers or changing unit looks calm, is easy to hang and keeps frames out of reach of little hands.
Below is a ready-matched set of four sleepy animal prints in cream, oat and taupe, with sizes, a layout you can copy and the safety points to check first.
The set: Grid of four A3 (2 x 2)
About 64 cm wide and 89 cm tall with 5 cm gaps. Hang it above a chest of drawers or changing unit, not over the cot.

The colour palette
Why this set works in a nursery
All four prints come from one series of gentle, hand-painted bedtime scenes. Each one shows baby animals fast asleep on soft clouds under a crescent moon and a scatter of stars: two lion cubs, a pair of zebras, a polar bear hugging a pillow and two baby elephants. The same moon, the same clouds and the same warm taupe sky run through all four, so the grid reads as one picture.
The soft palette suits a room for sleeping. It works for any baby, sits well with white, oak or sage furniture, and will still look right when the nursery becomes a toddler room. Browse more prints in the same style in our nursery wall art.
How to hang it safely
- Pick the right wall. Above a chest of drawers, a changing unit or a reading chair is ideal. Avoid the wall directly above the cot.
- Mark the centre. Centre the grid over the furniture, with the middle of the group at about 145 to 150 cm from the floor, or a little lower above a low chest. Leave 15 to 25 cm between the furniture and the bottom row.
- Hang the top row first, then the bottom row, keeping every gap the same, about 5 cm.
- Fix each frame at two points. Two hooks, or a hook plus a small adhesive strip at the bottom corners, stop frames from tilting or being pulled.
Choose frames with acrylic glazing instead of glass, and keep the grid well clear of the cot, so a standing baby cannot reach it.
Nursery gallery wall mistakes to avoid
- Hanging art over the cot. It is the one place in the room to keep clear.
- Too many bright colours. Strong, busy prints are stimulating. Soft tones help the room feel restful.
- Lots of tiny frames. They look scattered and mean more fixings. Four A3 prints in a grid look tidy.
- Forgetting it will grow. A neutral set like this one lasts well beyond the baby years. You can add a fifth print later or move the grid to a bigger wall.
