Pink Living Room Ideas
A pink living room looks grown-up when you choose a muted pink such as blush or dusty rose and anchor it with deeper colours like burgundy, olive or charcoal. Add warm wood and plenty of cream, and pick art that repeats the pink alongside one stronger shade.
Below: colours that go with pink, warm and cool pinks, how to plan sofas and rugs, and how to choose wall art for pink walls.

Colours that go with pink in a living room
- Sage and olive green are the classic complementary colours for pink. They calm it down and make it feel natural.
- Burgundy and oxblood give depth. Use them on a velvet cushion, a rug or in a print.
- Cream and warm white keep blush looking fresh rather than sugary.
- Terracotta and burnt orange make a warm, sunny scheme with pink.
- Charcoal and navy add contrast for a more modern pink living room.
Keep the proportions simple with the 60-30-10 rule: about 60% blush or cream, 30% wood and a supporting colour such as sage, and 10% burgundy or terracotta.
Blush, dusty rose or bright pink?
Warm pinks such as blush, peach-pink and plaster pink have a touch of yellow or orange in them. They glow in daylight and suit oak, brass, terracotta and cream. Cool pinks such as dusty rose and mauve-pink have a touch of blue or grey. They suit charcoal, navy, silver and white.
Bright or hot pink is harder to live with on four walls. Use it in a print, a cushion or a single chair, and keep the walls a softer blush.
Sofas, rugs and keeping pink grown-up
- Pink walls, neutral sofa: oatmeal, cream or tan leather sofas look relaxed against blush pink walls.
- Neutral walls, pink sofa: a blush or dusty pink velvet sofa against warm white walls gives you the colour in one confident piece.
- Pink on pink: a sofa a shade deeper than the walls, looks deliberate. Break it up with a patterned cushion in black, white or burgundy.
- Rugs: a jute or wool rug in natural tones grounds the pink. Avoid a pink rug as well as pink walls and sofa.
- Wood: mid-century teak and walnut give pink a warm, slightly retro feel.
Choosing wall art for pink walls
The best art for pink walls repeats a little pink and adds one deeper colour, such as burgundy, olive or charcoal. Bold florals, botanicals and abstract shapes all suit a blush pink living room. Prints with cream backgrounds sit softly; prints with dark backgrounds make a stronger statement.
Above the sofa, aim for art about two thirds of the sofa's width, hung 15 to 25 cm above the back. On a TV wall, a pair of A2 prints either side of the screen balances it well.
