Bedroom Wall Decor Ideas
The best bedroom wall decor is calm, sized to the bed, and hung where you see it from the pillow and the door. Start with the wall above the bed, choose soft colours that repeat something in your bedding, and keep the rest of the room quieter than the living room.
Below: what to hang above the bed, calming colours and styles, ideas for the other bedroom walls, and prints chosen for the job.
Prints for this look
Start with the wall above the bed
The headboard wall is the natural focal point. Aim for art about two thirds the width of the bed: one A1 above a double, or a pair of A2 prints above a king size. Leave 15 to 25 cm between the top of the headboard and the bottom of the frame so the art feels connected to the bed.
- One large print is the calmest choice and suits small or minimal rooms.
- A pair suits symmetrical rooms with matching bedside tables and lamps.
- A set of three in a row works above a wide bed or a low headboard.
- A small gallery wall suits relaxed, layered rooms. Keep gaps an even 5 to 8 cm.
Above a bed, use two secure fixings per frame and choose acrylic rather than glass if you can. It is lighter and safer if a frame is ever knocked.
Calming art for a bedroom
Bedrooms are for winding down, so look for art with soft colours and gentle contrast. Sage and olive greens, dusty blues, warm beige, cream and muted terracotta are all restful. Very bright or high-contrast prints are better saved for a hallway or living room.
Styles that work well:
- Nature and botanicals, from single stems to quiet landscapes.
- Soft abstracts with simple shapes and a limited palette.
- Line art for a minimal room.
- Japanese-inspired prints, which bring a sense of calm and suit wood, linen and low furniture.

Beyond the bed: the other bedroom walls
- The wall facing the bed is the one you see when you wake up. Hang your favourite print here, with its centre at about 145 to 150 cm from the floor.
- Above a chest of drawers or dressing table, one A2 or a pair of A3 prints fits most pieces.
- A narrow wall beside a wardrobe or window suits a tall A3 or two A4 prints stacked.
- A plain bedroom wall with nothing against it can take a picture ledge with two or three prints leaning on it. It is easy to swap them with the seasons.
A larger primary bedroom can take more scale: one A0 above the bed, or a pair of A1 prints on the wall opposite.
Bedroom wall decor trends
Warm, earthy neutrals, soft greens and calm Japandi rooms are popular for 2026, along with relaxed mixes of print sizes and art leaning on ledges rather than hung in strict rows. Trends come and go, though. Art that you still like looking at first thing in the morning is the one to choose.
