An 18×24-inch poster measures 45.72×60.96 cm, with a 3:4 aspect ratio. In portrait orientation it is 1½ feet wide and 2 feet tall. The paper covers 3 square feet; a frame and mount increase the space it occupies on your wall.

Mark those dimensions on the wall before ordering. A single print may suit a narrow wall or a small furniture setting; for a wider space, compare a larger format or a pair. Check the dimensions of the complete framed arrangement, including the gap between prints.

18×24 poster dimensions in inches, cm and mm

Paper size in portrait orientation, excluding a frame or mount
    Unit Width Height
    Inches 18 24
    Feet 1.5 2
    Centimetres 45.72 60.96
    Millimetres 457.2 609.6

The area is 432 square inches, or 3 square feet. For a landscape design, reverse the width and height: 24 inches wide and 18 inches tall. The artwork's orientation determines how it should be displayed.

How big does 18×24 look on a wall?

The paper is 2 feet tall, which is one quarter of an 8-foot wall's height. That gives a useful scale reference, but the visible wall area above furniture is usually much smaller than the full room height.

Make a paper template measuring 45.72×60.96 cm, or use removable tape suitable for your wall finish. Add the frame's outside dimensions to the mock-up and look at it from the doorway, your desk or your usual seat. This gives a more reliable comparison than a styled photograph taken in a different room.

Four US Letter sheets arranged in a 2×2 grid measure 17×22 inches. That is 1 inch narrower and 2 inches shorter than an 18×24 poster, so the grid is a rough visual comparison, not an exact template.

18×24 compared with other poster sizes

Comparison of paper dimensions and area before framing
Size in inches Size in cm Area in square inches
    11×17 27.94×43.18 187
    12×18 30.48×45.72 216
    16×20 40.64×50.8 320
    18×24 45.72×60.96 432
    24×36 60.96×91.44 864

An 18×24 poster has twice the paper area of 12×18 and half the area of 24×36. Area and proportions are different measurements: 18×24 is a 3:4 rectangle, whereas 12×18 and 24×36 are 2:3. The same image may need borders or cropping when moving between those formats.

For a single larger focal point, compare the 24×36 poster size guide. For the sizes offered across Laboo's range, use our wall art size guide and check the individual product's options.

Is 18×24 the same as A2 or 45×60 cm?

No. A2 measures 42×59.4 cm, so an 18×24-inch print is 3.72 cm wider and 1.56 cm taller. An A2 frame will not accept the full print without altering it.

A 45×60 cm frame is also smaller than an 18×24-inch print. Rounded conversions can be useful when visualising a wall, but use exact measurements when ordering a frame. Our A2 paper guide covers that separate format.

    Choosing a frame and mount

For an unmounted print, look for a frame made to accept an 18×24-inch artwork. Confirm that the advertised size describes the artwork opening rather than the outside of the frame. Check how much of the paper edge the moulding overlaps, especially if text or important details sit close to the edge.

If you want a mount, use a larger frame and a mount with an aperture cut for the image. A framer can advise on the overlap needed to hold the paper and the visible border you want. Mount board and frame moulding both add to the overall footprint, so measure the finished arrangement instead of adding a fixed allowance.

Check whether the product includes a frame, and choose fixings rated for the complete frame's weight and your wall type. Adhesive strips, hooks and other systems have different surface and load requirements.

Planning one print, a pair or a gallery wall

For a narrow wall, start with a single portrait template. Above a desk or sideboard, centre the proposed arrangement relative to the furniture and check the view while seated. In a hallway, allow clearance from doors and passing shoulders as well as visual space around the frame.

For a pair, add the outside widths of both frames and the gap between them. For example, two frames each 50 cm wide with a 6 cm gap occupy 106 cm in total. Those are illustrative frame dimensions; use the measurements of the frames you intend to buy.

If a single print looks small on a broad wall, compare a pair, a larger format or a mount before moving it higher. Repeating a frame finish or a colour from the artwork can help several prints feel connected. Mark every frame and gap before making holes.

Preparing your own 18×24 print file

Customers buying a finished Laboo print do not need to prepare an image file. If you are printing your own photograph or design, multiply the final dimensions in inches by the required pixels per inch (PPI):

Pixel dimensions at 18×24 inches, before bleed
Resolution Width in pixels Height in pixels
    150 PPI 2,700 3,600
    200 PPI 3,600 4,800
    300 PPI 5,400 7,200

Use the printer's requirements for resolution, bleed, colour profile and file format. A 3:4 source image fits this format without changing its proportions; another ratio needs cropping or borders. Raising the pixel count does not recover detail missing from the original image, so check a proof when the result is important.

    Before ordering

Confirm the product's exact print size, the complete frame size, the available paper or finish, and what is included. Look at reflections from windows and lamps at the planned position, and check the current delivery information if the print is needed for a particular date.

Browse art prints and posters by design, then use the listed dimensions to decide which option fits your measured space.
